Attach files and PDFs
You can give a model a document or an image to read along with your message.
What you can attach

- Up to 25 MB per file, and up to 20 files per message.
- Older formats (.doc, .xls), PowerPoint, SVG and HEIC photos aren’t supported. Save as .docx, .xlsx, PDF, JPEG or PNG first.
How to attach
Tap the + button (Attach a file) next to the message box and pick one or more files. Drag-and-drop and pasting files aren’t supported yet. Attaching isn’t available in Compare.
The file chip shows Reading… while Knecty extracts the text, then the size, for example “12 pages · ~31k tokens”.
Choose how much to send
For each document, a panel asks “How much of {file} to send?”. One option is marked Recommended, with the reason:
- Whole document — when it fits the model.
- Choose pages — pick pages yourself (type ranges like “1-3, 7”, or tap pages).
- Find the relevant parts — search the document for the pages that match your question. See Large documents: search, summaries and page choices.
A model can use up to 60% of what it can read at once for attached documents, leaving room for the conversation and the reply. If a document is bigger than that, the panel offers other ways to read it.
Images
With a model that reads images, you can send a photo or screenshot. Images over 5 MB are reduced to at most 2000 px before sending (Send reduced). For smaller images you can choose Original or Reduced (faster, cheaper). If the model can’t read images, you’re asked to pick one that can.
What it costs
Reading a document is part of the message’s cost: the model reads more tokens, billed like the rest of the message. The estimate under the message box shows how much of it is your file. Making a document searchable is a one-off charge of up to $0.04 per file.
After you send
Under the reply, a line says exactly what was read — for example “Read pages 1–30 of 42 from report.pdf.” If only part fitted, the model is told which pages it couldn’t read.
