Scanned PDFs and photos of pages

Some PDFs are pictures of pages — from a scanner or a phone — with no text inside. Knecty doesn’t turn them into text. Instead, it can send the pages as images to a model that can read images.

What you see

The panel says “{file} has no readable text” and recommends Send pages as images. If there are too many pages to send at once, it offers the first pages that fit, and Choose pages lets you pick others.

• Only models that read images can take page images. If your model can’t, the panel says so and offers “Switch model: {model} can read images”.
• One message can carry up to 50 page images, and fewer on some models. Ask about the rest in a later message with Choose pages.
• The chip shows “Preparing {n} pages…” while pages are made into images.

What it costs

Page images are billed like any image the model reads, at that model’s rates. There’s no separate fee.

If a file can’t be read

• “Couldn’t read {file}. The file may be damaged or password-protected.” — remove the password or re-save the file, then attach it again.
• “Models can’t read it yet. Try a text PDF or paste the text.” — the file has no readable text and couldn’t be prepared as images.
