Run a Deep Research report
Deep Research is for questions that need more than one answer from memory. It breaks your question down, searches the web, reads the pages it finds, and has the model you choose write a report with numbered citations.
Start a run
- Choose Deep research in the sidebar.
- Type your question (up to 4,000 characters) — the more specific, the sharper the report.
- Pick the Report model (the default is Gemini 3.5 Flash), the Depth & breadth, and the Focus: General, or Academic for scholarly sources and a formal tone.
- Choose Estimate this run, check the estimate, then Confirm & run.

Standard and Comprehensive runs also check the report with a second pass by the model, which the estimate includes.
What it costs
- 1¢ per web search actually performed.
- The report model’s actual usage plus the 25% platform fee.
- The estimate shows both, and the most that will be held while the run works. You’re never charged more than that; the unused part is released when the run finishes.

While it runs
A Plan card shows each step: breaking the question down, searching, reading, writing the report and checking claims. A deep run can take several minutes. You can leave the page and come back — the run keeps going. You can have up to 3 runs going at once.
Cancel
Cancel run stops it while it’s queued or running; the run view shows what was charged. A finished run can’t be cancelled.
If something goes wrong
- If the model can’t write the report, you get a summary of the sources instead and the model’s part of the charge is refunded — you pay for the searches only.
- If a run fails, any amount held for it is returned to your wallet automatically. This can take a little while.
After the run
- The report cites sources inline as [1], [2]…, with source cards underneath.
- Export as Markdown, HTML or PDF (PDF opens your browser’s print dialog — choose “Save as PDF”).
- Ask a follow-up starts a new run that builds on this one, with its own estimate.
- Past runs are listed at the bottom of the Deep research page with their cost — Open, Re-run or Delete them. Deleting a run removes the report; your usage history is kept.
